We do not sell your data and do not use advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
We process your data solely to provide the app's features: account management, your travel map and statistics, trip planning and sharing with friends (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — performance of contract). Push notifications and access to your photos only happen with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can revoke at any time in your system settings. Securing and stabilising the app is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR are in place with all processors.
Some of our service providers (in particular Google/Firebase, Netlify and Trello/Atlassian) also process data in the USA. Transfers are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
We store your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (in the settings or by emailing us), all associated data is deleted unless statutory retention obligations apply. See Delete account for instructions.
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). You may revoke any consent you have given at any time. Simply contact support@magneticworld.app.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).
Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via TLS. Access to your data is protected by authentication and server-side access rules (row level security).
You can report profiles, trips and photos in the app. A report stores who reported, the reason, any details you add, the time, and a copy of the reported content as it was at that moment (for example the username and bio, or the trip name, header image, destinations and public activity titles, or the photo). The reported person is not told who reported them.
We use this data only to review reports and enforce our Terms of Use, e.g. to remove content or suspend accounts. Reports are forwarded to our internal task board (Trello, Atlassian) so we can handle them within 24 hours. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a safe service and our obligations as a platform (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep reports for as long as needed to handle them and to recognise repeated abuse, at most 12 months after they are closed; if an account is deleted, its reports remain without a link to the account.
If you block someone, we store who blocked whom and when, so the block can be enforced (no friend requests, invites or joining each other's trips). The blocked person is not notified. A block is stored until you remove it in the app settings or one of you deletes their account.
When you visit magneticworld.app, our hosting provider Netlify processes the technical data needed to deliver the website (IP address, browser, time of access) in server logs. The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts. If you switch the language, that choice is stored only in your browser (local storage).
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, your chosen language and the time of sign-up with Netlify. We use this data solely to tell you when the app launches. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by emailing support@magneticworld.app. We delete your address when you withdraw consent, or once we no longer need it for the launch announcement.
Magnetic World is not intended for children. You must be at least 16 years old, or older where the law of your country of residence requires it (for example 18 in India).
To check this, we ask for your date of birth and country of residence when you sign up and store both with your account. The legal basis is the performance of our contract with you and our legal obligations regarding minors (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). Your date of birth cannot be changed in the app afterwards; if it is wrong, contact support@magneticworld.app.
If the check shows that someone is too young, we do not store the date of birth and delete the account and all its data immediately. If we learn in any other way that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we delete it as well.
